If I Were in Charge of the World

By: Bethany Reynolds

If I were in charge of the world

I’d cancel broken hearts,

Rainy Sundays,

Gaining weight, and the end of summer vacations.

If I were in charge of the world

There’d be clearer ocean water,

A healthier world, and

Everyone would give some of their time to serve those in need.

If I were in charge of the world

You wouldn’t have snakes.

You wouldn’t have sad pound cakes, dirty dishes,

Or “Time to wake up.”

And if you wanted you could sleep the whole day away.

If I were in charge of the world

Candy bars and sweets would be fruits and vegetables,

Clothes would always fit,

And a girl who sometimes forgets to use her inside voice,

And sometimes forgets she’s not a child

Would still be allowed to be

In charge of the world!

I Wish Poem
I wish
my white dog
running
on the beach
would jump
in the
water.
